Dynamic Dog Functional Assessment

Have you been feeling stuck trying to support your dog's behavior and feel like no matter what you do, progress is so slow? Or every time you take one step forward, you and your dog take three steps back? And that no matter what you try, it's never "good enough"?

What if I told you there may be a huge piece to the puzzle that is being overlooked?

Up to 80% of behavior cases have an underlying pain component that may be negatively impacting their behavior and welfare.

How our dogs feel in their bodies absolutely impacts their ability to cope with stress and can inhibit our progress with behavior support. Unfortunately, they can't "tell" us when they are feeling uncomfortable or painful.

That's where the Functional Assessment comes in. As a certified Dynamic Dog Practitioner, my goal is to assess your dog's movement to look for signs of potential discomfort. I analyze your dog's posture, gait, and how they move through their daily activities and gather data to create a report that can be shared with your dog's veterinary team to help bridge the gap between behavior and pain.

Common behaviors that may be signs of pain or discomfort

Pain often shows up as changes in posture, gait, and behavior which can be difficult to spot if you don't know where to look.

Unfortunately, pain is still widely unrecognized in dogs (and humans!)

  • Noise sensitivity

  • Sensitive to touch

  • Inability to settle or always "go go go"

  • Hyperactivity

  • Aggression concerns

  • Reactivity

  • Guarding resources

  • Ball obsession

  • Light chasing

  • Separation anxiety

  • Sleep startle

  • Car anxiety

  • Sudden changes in behavior

  • Hesitancy jumping up on furniture or into the car

  • Picky eating

  • Anxiety/ fearful behavior

  • "Sloppy" sits

  • Pulling on walks

  • and more!

How the Dynamic Dog Functional Assessment Works

Step 1: Our deep dive

After filling out an in-depth behavior and wellness questionnaire, we'll start with a virtual consultation where we dive deep into your dog's behavior, medical history, and lifestyle. This consultation is between 60 and 90 minutes long.

Step 2: Photo and video collection

Based on the information we discussed during our deep dive, you'll begin collecting a whole bunch of photos and videos of your dog's posture, gait, and activities of daily living over the span of two weeks for me to review.

Step 3: Comprehensive report for your vet team

Once I receive your photos and videos, I'll begin marking them up to look for signs of potential pain and discomfort. From there, I will create a comprehensive Dynamic Dog report for you and your veterinary team based on my findings for further investigation.

Step 4: Creating our plan

We'll schedule a 30 minute follow up where I'll review the report with you and answer any questions you may have. We will review what our next steps are, as well as recommendations for ways we can start supporting your dog immediately. I will also liaise with your vet team as well.

Investment: $450
